Stitching Question

Yesterday was a full day of visiting relatives and going out for lunch that I didn't have time to post. Today I was organizing my WIP and can't believe how many I have, we'll cover that another day.

So I've decided to put this question out there. Do you have a color of floss that you do not like stitching with ? I do, it's white ! I find it doesn't cover as well as other colors. I used to use one strand folded so there would be that loop to anchor the first stitch, well I started using two (no loop) and believe it or not the coverage (with all colors) is much better. With the white I've tried completing each stitch as I go and that seems to work well too.

Look forward to hearing if there are any you don't like.

I would have to agree with WHITE. My Christmas Village is going to be fabulous, but the white is going to be the death of me!!!

White is hard for me, too, Irene--I also find that the coverage with it isn't the greatest. But, the color I most dislike is brown--just find it depressing to do a large area filled with browns (as you read about in my post on my Thanksgiving turkey!)...

I actually have two that I don't like to work with. One is white and the other is black. I especially don't like having to take out an area that I miscoundted on when I've used black. So many of those black fibers seem to stay behind and can be difficult sometimes to completely remove. I have found though that if I take a piece of tape and press it down over the area I took out and lift back up, it will often remove those left over fibers a lot better than my fingernails do.

I have given up cross stitching as it was too hard on my eyes. However, I hated any really dark colours as it was so hard on the eyes especially at night. Sounds like you solved your problems though!

White for me too!! You are right about the coverage! Using two separate strands instead of one folded does give better coverage for sure. But I still don't like stitching with it!

I wouldn't say there is one particular color but dark colors at night are harder for me.

I've found that if you stitch with white first before you stitch with any other color, it helps with coverage. Also, using 2 strands and railroading both the legs of the stitch.

I'v also found that using a mascara wand removes fibers left behind from frogging. I get my unused wands at the Clinque makeup counter. I just ask for them...

I find that white is not as forgiving if I my tension is too tight, and that affects coverage. But it's not color so much as texture for me. I really procrastinate stitching with DMC's Light Effects on any project. It unravels and gets tangly. I know there are better products out there, but I haven't been able to find them.

Great questions, and beautiful work!

For me it's black and all dark browns. Just for the same reason which is coverage.

I've found I don't like the coverage with white either. I also think twists show more than they do with other colors.

I completely agree with you! White is definitely my least favorite to stitch with! LOL!

I vote for white as well. It seems redundant to me to stitch in white.
