Happy New Year

The Mailman made it !

We have had so much snow and living on a main street with no curb access or proper sidewalks out front, caused the mailman to stop delivery. Well he made it today with lots of goodies and a neighbor's mail ! I still cannot get out, as the lane is a solid sheet of ice and I am not going to tempt it. Also in the mail is a notice to pick up a letter at the post office, apparently they wouldn't deliver it on the 29th.
First off I got my Kelmscott Initial Needle Minder. I find that having the initial "I" it is not so easy to find something I like or that resembles an I, sometimes looking more like a J. When I saw this I knew I just had to have it and it is perfect. It is laying on some 30ct. Baby's Breath Weeks linen. I had ordered some fabric from Mary Kathryn and when she couldn't get it I trusted her to replace it with another color and she did a terrific job, I love it !

Next I received a package from Anna and she spoiled me. I received one of her gingerbread men and absolutely love him. There is a floss keeper, 32 ct. Green Tea Lakeside Linens, Barbara Ana Designs Santa Paws Biscornu and Plum Street Samplers, My Pretties, I have been wanting these patterns for some time now.

Oops the delicious chocolate never made it to the photo shoot ! Thank you so much Anna.
I also received some charts I ordered and forgot about :) Home Coming Sampler by The Sampler House; Ode to Snow by The Trilogy and Pam's Ornaments by Chen Designs.
I'm still waiting for my parcel to arrive from Stitches 'n Things, I hope it somes soon. I'll not mention the bills that also came in today's mail :(

I leave you with pictures of the tree in front of my house, my back stairs( which I'm glad not to use), the bird feeder, which shows just how much snow we have and lastly Tiger enjoying the fireplace and after a romp in the snow.

Repairs and Service

Saturday evening my monitor died on me or so I thought. Hooked up another one and it didn't work so now I know it's the PC. Phoned 1-800-Geek Squad, first available appointment was Wednesday, I will be working so we'll make that Thursday morning and they tell you up front it's $129.00 plus taxes just to come. So I decided this morning to take it to the place I bought it, walked in to be told the technician won't be there till noon. I then took it to another place I have dealt with and have been very pleased with their service only to be told 1 week as there were 6 repairs ahead of me. Well I figured go with the Geek Squad. I had an appointment at this small outdoor shopping centre and they have a computer store there, I have nothing to lose to ask, right ? Oh did I mention that when you start my PC up there is a beep beep sound, that tells you what is wrong with it. I know this from my brother, but he couldn't remember what the beeps meant. Now the second place that said it would be a week, started it up and told me it was a hard drive problem. I'm no technician or geek or computer wiz so I take their word for it. This last, yes LAST place I stopped the guy tells me as soon as he hears the beeps I need a new video card, puts it in everything works fine and it cost me 52.00 video card 20.00 labour, with taxes $80.64. Now I know where to go if I need service, I will be highly recommending this place. Came home cancelled the Geek Squad, set up my PC and I have heaps of e-mails and blog updates to read and I am working the next two days. So there will be no further posts from me till the weekend.

Bird Feeder

We have a bird feeder in the backyard, but haven't used it for years, due to the fact we would get rats, so had to stop. I thought I would put a small amount of wild bird seed out and see what would happen. First the crows were at it, I ran up to get my camera and when I got back down, this squirrel was having a feast.

Sewing Saturday

For some reason I thought today would be a good day to "finish" off some of my stitching. The sewing machine didn't co-operate as well as I would have liked, but I'm sure once I stuff and hand sew these closed they will be okay. I'm off to have supper now and will proably do some stitching afterwards. I think once these are done I'm going to try some pinkeep ornaments.

Noel

Another ornament from The Gift of Stitching magazine. This design is by Maryse Dupont of Les grilles de Maryse. I stitched it on 28 ct. Cashel Flax with DMC CV 4210. It's late and too dark to take a decent picture, so I scanned it. It usually takes me a "few" pictures to get a decent one, so I may do more scanning.

Something quick and little

It rained yesterday, actually it has rained almost everyday for a week. It is being reported that we have had more rain then we normally get for the month of November. So I decided to stay in and stitch to my hearts content. I look around and see so many WIP's, but wanted something quick and easy. This is Christmas Poinsettia Topiary by Praiseworthy Stitches from the TGOS Nov. issue, at least my version. I stitched this on 28 ct. Ice Blue Annabelle with DMC 498, 304 and 3051. There should be Merry on the left side and Christmas down the right. I go to start this and realize I should have stitched this over one and can't seem to adjust the wording to fit with over 2. I like it the way it is so may just leave it. I'm working on another one from the same issue. May get that one fnished tonight.

Blogoversary Gift Update

Dovile and Rachel, both let me know last week that they had received the Blogoversary gifts I sent. Since red is my favorite color I chose DMC 498, 777, 814 and 915 which makes up DMC CV 4210. A 10x10 piece of 32 ct. lambswool, #24 platinum needle, pins, lace and red and white checkered fabric. I'm thinking they could stitch up a really nice pinkeep with these supplies or whatever they like :) Can't wait to see what they do stitch.

Ladybugs

I believe I am being stalked. Last week I was driving along when suddenly there was a speck on my windshield. I took a good look and realized it was a Ladybug on the inside of my window. I watched as it crawled up and disappeared. I stopped to do some shopping and when I got back to the car, it was sitting on top. I had thought it crawled through the sun roof. Okay maybe I'm giving it a lot of credit, but it must have gotten into the car the same way. That was last Thursday. Yesterday there was one on the inside of the drivers door window. I just opened the window a bit and let her go. Now I did think it strange that within a few days I would see 2 ladybugs in my car. Well, today after work I get to my car and sitting on the hood waiting is another Ladybug. The sunroof was closed, so she couldn't get in :) I know they are supposed to be considered good luck, so maybe something great will happen for me.

This and That of Smalls

First up we have Splash. I was at my LNS and they had some kits on the counter from a local designer. Splash jumped right into my purchase pile, she's just the cutest. The other designs were not kits, but just as cute, so I will be going back for more. Then we have Checkerbird from HIH, she turned out better than I thought.

I did some stitching with my Stacy Nash group I think these turned out pretty good and will be
finishing them into pillows. I have quite a lot of stitching finishes that need to be done, so will set aside a whole day soon to do this.

I'm off to stitch the challenge at Let's Stitch I have a freebie pattern that I've been wanting to to do for awhile now.

B is for Black Bird

I received this lovely pillow ornament
from Anna, as part of the PS exchange
in HOE. I can't begin to tell you how
lovely it is, my picture does not do it
justice.

She also sent a cute fob that she made, a little pillow, fabric which I already have plans for and Eco Earthy Scents "Fresh Cut Grass" solid perfume, which smells lovely. A couple of patterns. and the white sachet everything is sitting on had Herbata in it, polish tea leaves, which my Mom has already claimed.

This and That

How many scissors does one really need ? Well when they are as cute looking as these, one just won't do. I am really pleased with them. They are light and so nice to handle. They can be found on Ebay from seller rosa0537 She gives great service and is fast.

Here's a photo of an exchange I did with the HOE blog. I had a really hard time parting with this.

This is from the TOSM Dec. 06. It is a Debbie Draper Design.

The bat is from Tantes Zolder. This is only a 1/4 of the design and I like it just as it is, so I may leave it and make a pillow of it.

Well that's This and That for this week. Happy Thanksgiving to fellow Canadians !
